How many years have you been in the industry? Twenty-five plus years as a Hotelier in the hospitality management industry.

What is your favourite part of your role? My role is an exciting blend of strategy, analysis, and connection. What strengthens me daily is the dual challenge of developing revenue-generation strategies and inspiring our Sales team to achieve unprecedented success.Most importantly, I love the human aspect of sales best. Building relationships, understanding client needs, and crafting solutions that resonate with our market are what sets our hotel apart.

Which venue space at One King West Hotel & Residence is your favourite and why? With its spectacular architecture and presence, the Grand Staircase offers a dramatic entrance. Beyond the staircase lies the grandeur of the Grand Banking Hall. With its soaring ceilings and classic columns, the hall transforms any event into a gala affair.  Whether it’s a fairy tale wedding, a prestigious corporate event, or a grand social gala, the space promises unmatched exclusivity and charm in Toronto. 

How do your clients characterize you? I strive to do my best to be the following to our clients: knowledgeable hotelier, reliable, communicative, problem solver, ethical and trustworthy, and personable.

What is your favourite meal that our culinary team prepares? Our Tellers Bistro & Bar is celebrated for its varied menu that caters to a wide range of tastes. The cozy atmosphere is suitable for late-night food, lunch, happy hour, and much more. My personal favourites on the menu are the Rigatoni, Steak Frites and the best Crispy Chicken Sandwich!   

What do you like to do in your free time? My free time consists of being a devoted husband, passionate pet lover, and advocate for animal welfare. My journey through life is beautifully shared with my wonderful wife and our beloved pets. Together, we’ve created a home filled with love, laughter, and times of complete chaos that come with our furry family members.


Oana

Group Sales Manager

How many years have you been in the industry? This year, I am celebrating—and I cannot believe it—my twentieth year since I worked in the most beautiful environment, hospitality.

What is your favourite part of your role? Connecting with people, especially helping them create memorable events! Also, because we live in one of the most beautiful countries, I get to meet people from all over the world!

Which venue space at One King West Hotel & Residence is your favourite, and why? The Vault is a beautiful work of art and one of the city’s most unique and intimate wedding venues.

How do your clients characterize you? One-of-a-kind, natural, and careful.

What is your favourite meal that our culinary team prepares? Definitely the Butter Chicken! Each time I eat this exquisite dish, I feel like I am travelling to India. I enjoy all the ingredients, condiments, and spices. It is such an authentic recipe created by our Executive Chef, Akshay Shastry. It’s truly a masterpiece. 

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy reading biographies of different personalities that inspire me, listening to classical music, travelling with my family, and admiring the beauty of nature.

How many years have you been in the industry? Since 1998. My first job was as a hostess at The Keg when I was seventeen.

What is your favourite part of your role? I am constantly learning and evolving, along with working with a team of seasoned professionals. I love that we are an independent property with the capability to be creative, innovative, and brand ourselves. We have so many individuals at One King West with dynamic personalities who are encouraged to speak their minds and be heard.

Which venue space at One King West Hotel & Residence is your favourite and why? All our spaces are unique and beautiful, but the Grand Baking Hall is an absolute showstopper. There is no other ballroom quite like this in Toronto. Its transformation from a functional daytime conference to an elegant evening gala is impressive. I take no credit for selling this room—it sells itself!

How do your clients characterize you? Flexible, accommodating, and empowered to assist them. I genuinely care about our clients, which shows in the custom service I provide.

What is your favourite meal that our culinary team prepares? The Burrata! 

What do you like to do in your free time? I am an avid biker, absolutely worship the sun, and love to dance and DJ occasionally. I am passionate about food and fashion. I have the most incredible son, who keeps me very busy and active!


Lorina

Group Sales Manager

How many years have you been in the industry? I have been in the hospitality industry for over ten years. My background is in restaurants, where I’ve held various roles, such as Regional Event Manager and Project Manager. In the last few months, I made the leap to hotels and could not be happier!

What is your favourite part of your role? My favourite part of the role is making excellent connections with clients and colleagues. Every day is different, and there is always something new to learn.

Which venue space at One King West Hotel & Residence is your favourite and why? My favourite venue is the Chairman’s Boardroom. It has a lot of character, and I love the walnut wood panelling. It is the perfect venue for any occasion, from intimate weddings to social gatherings and corporate meetings.

How do your clients characterize you? My clients describe me as outgoing, always ready to help, and offering the best possible options and deals.

What is your favourite meal that our culinary team prepares? So far, the Kale Caesar Salad!

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy working out and spending quality time with my two-year-old son and dog!

How many years have you been in the industry? Thirteen years.

What is your favourite part of your role? It is like a giant to-do list, planning and achieving all project goals within the given constraints. Bonus: it feels great to tick the boxes and move on to the next project.

September 3, 2020 – Toronto, ON – On September 7, 2021, Daily Ritual Cafe will celebrate its grand opening by giving out free coffee to the first 100 visitors.   

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, in the lobby level of One King West Hotel & Residence, Daily Ritual Cafe will serve a variety of breakfast, lunch, sweet and savoury snack options made fresh for our visitors. In addition to our curated menu, Daily Ritual Café will also offer a selection of small grocery items to cater to the refined palette of the Financial District. The cafe will also expand its menu to offer catering and culinary gift baskets later this fall.  

“We are thrilled to welcome Daily Ritual Cafe to our food and beverage offerings at One King West Hotel & Residence. With its prime location on King St. West at Yonge St., we are excited to bring a bit of colour and fresh flavours from local artisans to the Financial District” -One King West Hotel & Residence President and General Manager, Steve O’Brien.

Daily Ritual Cafe has also developed a custom app available that is set to launch in early Fall on the App Store and Google Play to make ordering your morning coffee or lunchtime sandwich even more convenient. Customers can pre-order items from the full menu for pick up in the cafe or delivery through DoorDash.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

2 cups of Fresh Cut Fries
1 tbsp. of Maratelli White Truffle Oil
Parmiggiano Reggiano (enough to grate with the help of a zester)
1 tbsp. of Grated Parmiggiano Reggiano
1 tsp. of Martelli Black Truffle Paste
1 tsp. of White Truffle Oil
5 tbsp. of Mayonnaise
Salt & Cracked Black Pepper to taste

HOW TO PREPARE (FIND A STEP-BY-STEP VIDEO DEMONSTRATION ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS):

  1. 1. In a bowl combine mayonnaise, black truffle paste, and white truffle oil Mix well and taste.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

1 pc of Ciabatta Bread Square
4 – 5 oz of Chicken Breast (boneless/skinless)
1 slice of Canadian Back Bacon
1 Leaf of Iceberg Lettuce
2 slices of Beefsteak Tomato
2 tbsp. of Mayonnaise
1 tsp. of Paprika
1 pinch of Dehydrated Parsley
1 pinch of Dehydrated Oregano
1 pinch of Cajun Seasoning
Salt to taste

  1. Butterfly the chicken and marinated with paprika, cajun, parsley, oregano, and salt.

  4. Take the toasted bread and spread mayonnaise on both sides.

  1. In a pan heat olive oil, add sliced garlic and onions and sautée untill light golden brown and add white wine, then add the halves of cherry heirloom tomatoes and sugo (sauce) and let simmer for 10 mins.
  2. Transfer the sauce into a baking pan crack 4 eggs and bake at 350F for 10-15 mins.
  3. After its fully done take it out of the oven, grate Grana Padano and serve with grilled focaccia.
